Agarwood forms only when Aquilaria trees respond to infection, which is why grading is everything — two pieces from the same tree can differ by an order of magnitude in value. We grade by resin content, sinking behaviour and aroma profile, and we work only with licensed collectors and cultivated stock so the paperwork holds up at the border.
